Broker's Comments
So far this boat has cost roughly £250000 from original plans to the owners specification, the hull was built in Europe to the best possible quality to a Hugh Welbourn design.
The owner has had a change of direction and has decided to sell the boat on as an unfinished project at a huge loss.
The boat was designed to be equally at home inshore as she is making daily mileage runs previously unheard of in a boat of this type.
One feature enabling this is the Dynamic Stability System which has been allowed for which creates extra lift in the hull DSS is a supplement to a standard fixed keel and all stability calculations are conducted without accounting for DSS, therefore DSS is inherently safe. Unlike canting keel yachts that have been plagued with reliability and safety concerns, the very worst that can happen with DSS is that a heavy impact will cause the foil to break off, returning the yacht to a standard configuration yacht and maintaining a fixed keel and all of its stability.
So if you are looking for a unique blue water cruiser/racer designed to reach 25 knots this could be an option. It is difficult to quote an estimate fit out cost as this is obviously subject to equipment fitted but the sale price represents a large saving if you were starting from scratch and the price is very much up for discussion.
The owner will happily finish the job for you if required or recommend an alternative.
